Today you are going to learn how to make money online in 2022.

In fact, I have personally tested the seven ways I am going to share with you without any prior experience.

So if you’ve just found the latest post-pandemic trend of making money online but are confused with generic advice on the web, you’ve come to the right place.

Let’s get things started with:

Freelance In FB Groups, Upwork, Freelancer and Other Gig Websites

Freelancing isn’t just another buzzword. It’s real, legit and the easiest yet effective way of earning money in the digital space. 36% of the American workforce was doing this exact thing in 2021, as per the Freelance Forward:2021 report.

So what exactly is freelancing?

Simply put, freelancing means pursuing a profession (offering skills) without any long-term commitment to your client (or employer). It’s similar to being a professional, and platforms like Upwork and Freelancer.com provide you with the option to set up your profile and attract clients.

You can offer any skill you possess, whether it be:

  • Copywriting (you are currently reading one!)
  • Video editing (it’s time to work with your favorite YouTubers!)
  • Data entry
  • Voice over
  • Website Design
  • Marketing
  • Graphic Design

The list is endless. Anything which offers value to businesses can be a freelancing opportunity. A simple thing like being proficient in a second language can land you an opportunity on sites like One Hour Translation.

Like all things under the sun, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows when it comes to freelancing:

  • For basic jobs like data entry, there is too much competition (as you might have guessed).
  • Freelancing income can be highly irregular and unpredictable (kick job security out of the window!)
  • It takes time and experience to build your reputation (like all other jobs).

It’s better to freelance the work you know best. Like I knew how to write helpful guides (like this), so I helped my friend in his gigs with an international client. If you can stick with it, it’s a flexible job, and you can earn wherever you want.

And the scope of earning money is endless 🤑 (like any other full-time job).

Make Money From Your Blog Via Ads [Adsense, Mediavine and More!]

I tried this in 2020 (before the pandemic started), but it ended up being a complete failure.

But that’s not earning via ads is not feasible (despite the trend towards ad blockers!)

It’s because I blogged based on my imagination instead of SEO fundamentals. I had no clue what I was writing and always hoped that somehow I’ll be able to generate a ton of traffic on my blog, which would make me rich.

It obviously didn’t happen.

Either way, I learned a lot about blogging and SEO in the process. Here’s what making money from blogs from ads looks like:

  • You start a blog on WordPress (forget your HTML coding lessons forever) and post content.
  • Drive traffic to your blog via Google or FB ads or from SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (best option).
  • As you have decent traffic (close to 50k), you can set up Google AdSense (or alternatives like mediavine) so that they can show ads on your web pages.
  • You’ll be paid per ad click, and it varies from the ad management program you’ve signed up for.

Is it easy? Driving sufficient traffic for decent earnings is challenging, but with correct SEO strategies, it is possible.

You can choose a niche you are passionate about, but it's better to do niche research first and love the core aspect of building blogs: SEO and marketing.

Make Money From As An Affiliate

This is similar to #2 but with a little twist:

Instead of earning via ad clicks, you earn when someone buys from the link you placed on your website.

So you have to be a salesman of big brands for this?

No.

Affiliates recommend products, and when someone buys from the link, you guessed it, they earn a commission. Commission rates can vary based on the affiliate program you have signed up for.

The most common affiliate program is: Amazon (not that rainforest, that everything online store you and I use every day).

But it’s being a silent salesperson only, right? No. Because in order to build trust among your readers and gain Google’s trust (SEO is the #1 traffic source, and the Search engine means Google 😉), you need to be authentic in your reviews.

It’s best to actually test products to review them, which requires skill and effort.

Being an affiliate is the cleanest way to earn money online as:

  • You are not earning via something you have no control over (ads)
  • You are adding value to a consumer (helping them in their product research)

Downsides?

It takes time to earn a decent income via affiliate links. And it’s your business, so you can continue writing for months without any cash payout.

Once you start earning decent income, you should buy a house for yourself and your family, right? Sorry to break it to you, but it’s not that simple. Read this to find out more:

Start A YouTube Channel

Don’t think of yourself as MrBeast right from day #1; it’s hard to start and establish a YouTube channel because: You need to learn copywriting, video editing and learn to face and present in front of the camera (or learn how to make animations).

Getting the first 1k subs and 4k channel views is pretty challenging for a beginner.

But there are multiple benefits to starting a YouTube channel:

  • Good source of revenue via ads or revenue
  • Establishing your brand online (helpful for future business prospects)
  • Connecting with a new set of online friends to connect and share views you are interested in.

You need to invest in a good setup and/or buy subscriptions to video editing software. Hiring freelancers (see #1) is also an option, but it’s better for you to get exposure to things needed so you can continue with your project in the future.

Many YouTubers are billionaires, so the sky is the limit of earning YouTube income. Have good luck dealing with algo updates!

Create Online Courses on SkillShare

We want to thank SkillShare for supporting….

My fantasies!

Don’t worry SkillShare didn’t pay me for sponsorship, so you can sell your online course on Coursera and Udemy as well.

The point is if you have considerable experience on a skill say:

  • Photography
  • Video editing
  • Copywriting

You can make a course teaching others how to achieve it.

Did you notice something? If you have beginner-level experience/knowledge you can freelance to make money and if you consider yourself an expert you can make your own course.

You can earn anywhere between $1k to $100k depending on the traffic you generate on your course and the price of your course.

Challenges? Simply put yourself in the learner’s seat. Will you trust buying any random course with no proof or actual learning?

To establish yourself as an online educator, you need to:

  • Generate credible social proof
  • Generate real results for your students
  • Connect with your students through messaging platforms

If you are passionate about teaching the skill you are expert in, being an online educator is a good option.

There you have it: 5 legit ways to make money online in 2022.

Now, I would head over to you.

Which one would you try out first?

Is it blogging for ads or affiliate? Or freelancing your photography skills?
